The Chief's Annual Picnic

What an incredible day it was on Sunday, August 3, as the Cherokee Community of Puget Sound (CC-PS) welcomed Cherokee Nation Principal Chief Chuck Hoskin, Jr. The annual event, held this year at the Enumclaw Expo in Enumclaw, Washington, was a powerful gathering of community, culture, and conversation. The venue provided a wonderful backdrop for a day filled with camaraderie and shared heritage.

A huge Wado (thank you!) to everyone who came out and made the day so special. I was truly touched by the support shown for my books. Your support for Gadugi Media and indie authors is deeply appreciated. I also have to give a special shout-out to my wife, Penelope, the "better half" of Gadugi Media, who masterfully managed our table and the flow of readers.

The day was filled with delicious food, insightful speakers, and captivating storytellers. It was a privilege to hear from Chief Hoskin, who spoke passionately about his advocacy for improved health and wellness within the Cherokee Nation—a cause I've long championed for Indian Country. Our highlight reel showcases Penelope and me with Chief Hoskins. I was also honored to meet and get a photo together with Cherokee Nation Community Liaison Melissa Payne, who has been incredibly helpful in my work. We finished up the day spending time with Cherokee National Treasure for Storytelling, Robert Lewis, a true "scholar and a gentleman," as my father would say.

The sense of community was palpable, and seeing so many kind folks from the Nation was a highlight for us all. We're already looking forward to our next gathering in 2026!
